Reply with quote | #1 | Hi Everyone,
I am new to bonus hunting and this forum and have a few questions. I have read quite a few posts and FAQs but still have a few questions before I begin depositing (apologies if I have missed this elsewhere):
1. For deposits like 100% bonus on $50 should you deposit more so you can cover variance? For example if you deposit $50 and get a $50 bonus with a wagering requirement of 40x can you realistically achieve that wr with $1 flat betting without going bust a lot? Should you deposit $100 even though only $50 applies to a bonus just counterbalance going bust?
2. I have read that its important flat bet above the minimum so as not to be caught as an 'advantage player'. So if the minimum bet is $2 on a site where you have deposited $100 for a 100% bonus should you be betting $4 a bet? If so this leaves you betting in with 50 units ($200 / 4) which I would have thought is risky. What base unit when flatting betting is recommended in order to avoid going bust 100 units, 200 units or is 50 units enough to stay withing the variance of reasonable swings and not go bust?
So these might be obvious questions to most people but I would like to put some structure around my approach before I start seriously. Thanks for the feedback in advance.

Reply with quote | #2 | Depositing more often makes no sense unless the casino stops you re-depositing. Having said that I do deposit more than the max for small reward bonuses when there is a chance of busting. Remember if the bonus is not a reward type where you get a bonus after playing a certain amount then you shouldn't really deposit more. For up front bonuses when the bonus is gone it is gone, if you are locked in then lock in the minimum.
On your second question bet what you feel comfortable with. In my opinion the banning of advantage players is over-hyped and to be honest there are many more factors than the amount you bet. My advice is always to bet small when you start until your bankroll can take the hits from variance which come with bigger bets.

Reply with quote | #4 | Hi Thistler and welcome to the forum. As abat said if the bonus is given up front there is no need to deposit more than the required amount, specially if the wagering requirements include deposit and bonus. Just deposit what you need to get the maximum bonus and go through the wagering requirements.
Betting low has to do more with limiting variance and increasing your bankroll than being labeled as an advantage player. Right now what you want to do is making your bankroll grow, once you have a decent amount of money you can start betting higher and that's when the fun begins. Remember there's a lot of discipline and patience involved in this business, take things easy and you will succeed. Good luck

Reply with quote | #6 | Hi Thistler welcome to the forum, what I found when I started out was not the variance so much (which can fluctuate by 100 units either way) but the shear time it takes to grind out 4000/8000 wr but to succeed in this game you must be patient.I usually wagered like this £0-£1000 £1/$2 bets and then each £500 profit you make increase your bets by £0.50p/$1 until you reach a level that's comfortable for you to try bigger things.
Good luck and report back your first couple of results it would be interesting to see how your getting on.
